…going with the flow…

…. or might we have to challenge the status quo?
I had a peculiar incident the other day, walking through one of my favorite places. I might want to add that this special place is a shoe-shop just close to my flat in Vienna. I was standing next to a woman in her mid thirties. She had a pair of pink runners in her hand and was talking to someone…or something… with her eyes closed. I did’t think further of it, but when I overheard her debating with this invisible friend of hers, if she should buy the shoes or not and somethings down the line of - that the shoes would most definitely be worn and not just hanging around the closet. This conversation, or rather monologue went on for ages, but I stood put as I was slightly intrigued about the outcome and to be honest, wanted to butt right in and say; “for the love of God, buy them and stop fidgeting about!” There is no such thing as a bad buy. Not when it comes down to shoes anyway…. Even if you never wear them - they will still look good every time you open those closet doors! Haven’t made up my mind yet why anybody would want bright pink runners though, but she seemed fond of them, so I didn’t want to challenge her taste at this sensitive moment. If I would have this conversation every time I am in a shoe shop the opening hours might need to be extended. Not due to the long conversations I might have, but rather the number of shoes that needed to be debated…

Next weekend - the Fete Blanche will be THE event around Wörthersee and not only people dress all in white, but the whole area turns into a big white party strip. The good thing is that you at least see people when driving during night time. With Fete Noir - it’s a different story…
It cooled off a bit today, even though the rain we had, was not much to mention and we will reach the 35°C again within the next days. My “spoiltrotten” dog has enjoyed the coolness of the flat, turned my bed into his war zone and stretches out, leaving 10% to my disposal… not that I have spent much in it the last nights. It’s been to hot and some many other things I have been fiddling about with. You probably all know how it feels like when trying to nick some of those hours of sleep onto the day due to that the hours you are awake aren’t enough for all the things you want to finalize.

Oh, and I saw our little crocodile the other day again. (Oh well, it’s not really a crocodile.. ) We actually have three… was concerned I had locked them up underneath the freshly laid stones… one survived at least and she is the one which is not marked from our handy work around the house. One of them has no tail and the other one some white paint on her backside - but they have been here for years, so I guess we have made up for some minor accidents…
There will always be a different opinion - only ask for it if you can handle it.
So long - stay safe

….ironman & women

….. with 3,8km swimming, 180km on bike and finishing off with 42,195km..kicked off this morning at 7 am in Klagenfurt.
I just say RESPECT, I get exhausted by just watching it from a distance..
We are keeping our fingers crossed for Joe and Alex entering the competition today - may they be as successful as the German National Team was yesterday!
I believe that no matter if Germany reaches the final or not - they have clearly showed the world what football is all about and that they stand strong as a united team no matter challenge or success.
United are also my stone path and I since a couple of weeks back… the stones have been put pack, now in a more straight line, and yesterday the steps had do be re-cemented, as the ants had made their way through the previous cement, building a nice little cosy house underneath the stones. (don’t ask where they have gone now…the ants I mean..) Next weekend moulding is on the agenda, some more cement to hold it in its place and then project should be completed…for now…

24°C in the lake - 35°C outside… no matter what weather - there is always something to complain about. I am generally happy about the weather - however the ramping up from cold to warm could be more stable, enabling us to adjust… The more fascinating thing is that every year in April - the newspapers and people talk about that:
-” Oh this year the spring is late, it will be an awful summer, worse than last year… ” and every year it’s the same procedure when summer arrives it seems that when the temperatures reach 30°, we kind of get surprised, forget all about what was said a couple of month back repeat this process the following year again…
So long - stay safe on those bikes and wear a helmet..
