… salsa styles danced to smooth latin-american music. Enjoyed an evening at the castle Ehrenhausen, watching a salsa course run by Ines and Georg from www.salsadance.at .
The thunderstorm started when driving home from Klagenfurt and in the west, the sky lit up by the lightning. Some heavy rain followed, but cleared the humidity and we can once again breathe fresh clear air. Still some clouds to be seen however the sun tries to peak through the white fog and temperatures are climbing above 25°C.
This evening, the party Dirdl vs Kilt at “Fabrik Saag” is a must and tomorrow the half-marathon from Velden to Klagenfurt is taking place. We wish our guests taking part - Good luck!!! Myself, will watch it from a safe distance - the balcony.
Time to do some shopping -
So long - pasos, brincos

…Dirndl vs. Kilt
20.8.2009 von admin.
…. on Saturday August 22nd in the “Fabrik” (2.5 km from here) . Dirndl clubbing at a top location with body painting, fashion show, 2 dance floors and international DJs. The night combining traditional dress code and cool dance-floor music. You shouldn’t miss it and is a perfect opportunity to start the Oktoberfest earlier then planned. So get the Dirndl and Kilt out of your wardrobe and join the party on Saturday!
For those who won’t party all night or are fit enough to join/watch the half marathon from Velden to Klagenfurt on Sunday should be aware that the road closes during the event between 08.30 and 11.30isch for car traffic.
So long - yodel-practise until Saturday

… heaven so close
19.8.2009 von admin.
… by living in the city, which I have done for several years, I never realized and imagined the sky so beautiful on a clear night, as I have seen it here. It feels like you can reach the stars with your bare hands. Heaven just inches above you and every star is bright and clear. Most evenings when no clouds are around, the sky is an action movie, playing in a big open air cinema. Fantastic scenes are shown and it is extremely fascinating.
So long - Heaven so close, stars so bright - feels like time stands still…

… if you are not at the lake…
18.8.2009 von admin.
..the heat is getting to you…
Looking forward to the evening swim, I can tell you. 35°C on the terrace * puh* - hot! Guests on Motorbikes just checked in. Them as well were bothered by the heat, which is understandable with all that gear on.
The lake was peaceful this morning and Pörtschach quiet.
We notice that the holidays are coming to an end, however until mid- end of September there are still major events to visit - European bike week, Pink Lake, just mentioning a couple.
Will complete the blog later on with some pictures…had some internal server errors preventing this at the moment.
So long - sweet heat

…in the heat, but..
17.8.2009 von admin.
… rather cloudy this morning and it didn’t look to good, but just before lunch the sun came out and all clouds disappeared.
Went to Villach to do some mandatory shopping , and if you don’t have air-condition and slightly short on patience, you shouldn’t go into Villach a Monday, before lunch. The evil heat just saw my weakness and attacked my poor unarmed self in the car cue.. Managed to get myself home OK and all shopping done. Mission completed..

Villach is the second largest city in Carinthia and has a population of approx 59.000. It is located at the Drau river and is an important traffic-junction for Austria and the Alpe-Adria region, reaching to Italy and Slovenia in just 30 minutes. Villach Old Town is sweet and the river Drau passes through the city centre. Villach holds most shops, malls and brands and the new built shopping-mall can bring joy to most of us shopaholics. If you really want to max out the credit card - Italy is just across the boarder.

So long shopping passion

… Schloss Velden
15.8.2009 von admin.
… The castle in Velden was built between 1590-1603 by Barholomäus Khevenhüller. In 1762 a fire ruined major parts of the chateau, but was re-structured by the industrialist Ernts Wahliss in 1890 into a luxury resort. In 1990 it was purchased and became a private residence of a German industrialist Gunter Sachs and also used for several films and also the famous TV series “Ein Schloss am Wörthersee” in the 1990s. Today, Schloss Velden has been designed and built into a 6-star luxury hotel.
The castle in it’s beauty, can be seen in Velden just 7 km away. Velden is also famous for it’s casino and jet-set flair.
Our guests are most probably having a great day at the lake with 30°C, sun and just a small breeze.
I will tend to the cooking now and look forward to the fireworks this evening.
So long - enjoy

… Marienboatprocession tomorrow Saturday 15th August
14.8.2009 von admin.
Kicking off the celebration with a BBQ at the Wienerroither Beachcafé, followed by a concert at the lake and the party of the 1000 lights - Marienschiffsprozession. At 11. pm a huge firework finalizes the evening, which we usually can see from the balconies facing the lake.
The day started off rather grey, but after lunch the sky cleared and the day turned out well! Weather should according to those who know, stay great over the weekend.
Where has the summer gone? We are already mid August and of course we are blessed with nice weather usually through to end of September, but June and July went very quickly and have been very busy. Wörthersee festspiele are still running for some more nights. End of August the Altstadtzauber (Magic nights) in Klagenfurt are due, then comes the Harley Davidson week and the Pink Lake event, also we should not forget the Brahms competition beginning of September.
So long today - fireworks tomorrow

…”get on top of it all”
12.8.2009 von admin.
…. is the slogan for today.
The mountain Gerlitzen offers several different activities during summer and winter. During the winter month, it is a popular ski-resort and during the summer, a fantastic variety of activities is offered. Nordic Walking, trekking, biking, paragliding, are just a few of the activities which can be enjoyed by the whole family. The Kanzelbahn cable car and the Gipfelbahn chairlift will bring you to an altitude of almost 2.000 metres. The view is fantastic and ought to be seen. More info can be found on the Gerlitzen WEBsite .
Sun has been out all day and a few clouds can be seen in the horizon… for many of you holiday is almost over and you might be travelling back home. I feel lucky, not having to go anywhere - but to be able to stay here, close to the lake and experience Wörthersee all over again tomorrow, the next day and every day for the rest of my life.

So long - safe drive

… another day with 28°C
11.8.2009 von admin.
…and according to reliable sources 24,9°C in the water (thanks Wolfgang!) It has been a fantastic day at the lake, for those who made it. Unfortunately I had to go to Villach to do some shopping, otherwise I would have been there as well!
Today’s agenda was packed since 7 am this morning, when a guest from Munich had his departure back to work, then into Villach to do some shopping, lunch at Fruhmann, back to paint the sign and mend some bricks and last but not least - make sure our dear flowers got some water, in between check-in of our dear guests.
I enjoy listening to our guests stories. Where they have been and what they have done. Most of our guests, share parts and moments of their lives with us and I must say, it is fantastic to hear what they tell and what they have experienced.
Everybody has a history, no matter if it’s shared or not.
So long - today is history - here comes tomorrow
