… Wörthersee in August

Two days ago the Wörthersee Festspiele started and the musical thriller from Broadway “Jekyll and Hyde” has for the past two nights entertained our guests.  The Wörtherseefestspiele continuous through to the 19th August ending with ABBA - the music show. More info can be found here.

Simply Red will be playing in Maria Wörth tomorrow evening, followed by the Kirchtag in Maria Wörth on the 15th August. Maria Wörth is across the lake and can be reached either with the boat crossing or via the main road following the lake-side.

Starting 21st August the sport takes the lead with the Carinthia running event “Kärnten läuft”and ending on the 23rd, where also the Wörthersee half-marathon takes place.

August ends with the Klagenfurter Altstadtzauber on the 28th and 29th, where the magic and mystique plays it’s main role.

200 motorbikes passed our house yesterday. First I thought we got the date wrong when the Harley Davidson European Bike week was on but I guess it was just an early start, Faak am See  8th - 13th September. But it was extremely impressive to watch..

An old friend and colleague with her husband came by today. Had not met up in years and it was great see her, catch up and have a coffee! She and her husband are doing 3 week Carinthia /Wörthersee holiday - with biking as the main theme.  The area around here is great to do biking, hiking and water-sports. More info on the biking trails can be found here.We will catch up after her holidays and I will make sure I get some further tips from her. Good to see you girl!

Another great day is coming to an end, unfortunately some clouds can be seen in the west and it looks like thunderstorms will be here later on. Can’t have it all, even though Wörthersee, no matter season, weather or mood -  fascinates…
