… Wörthersee in it’s glory

Wörthersee is about 20 km long and 1-2 km wide and goes from Klagenfurt in the east to Velden in the west. It has a fantastic green-blue color and is totally transparent.

At the early 19th century only a few peasants felt at home here, though when the railway was built in mid century it became an exclusive summer retreat for Vienna’s nobility.

During the summer months, Wörthersee invites to loads of activities for all ages, however the spring with all the wonderful flowers less people and great golfing is worth to see. The autumn with the green-blue lake and all the different color trees makes a fantastic scenery and is one of my favourite times of year. Autumn is perfect for biking, swimming, hiking and golfing.. or why not just relaxing..

Winters at Wörthersee turn rather quiet. However, if you have the chance to come down this way, do some down-hill skiing 25 km  away and combine it with a visit to Italy or Slovenia. Don’t miss out on the Christmas market in Klagenfurt which is a small but sweet, traditional Christmas market.

Heat is getting to me - still around 30°C and time for a swim in the lake.

So long for now,
