… heaven so close part 2
31.8.2009 von admin.
… yesterday evening was one of those nights again where the stars were within reach. If I was sure there wouldn’t be any bugs under the stones, which were just waiting to be able to attack me I would have laid down on the ground there and then. This does by no means, imply that I am a weak person - I would take up most challenges handed to me, however anything smaller then 2 cm, with wings or with too many legs cannot be trusted according to the theory I built on. Finally after my neck went numb, I moved back inside again.
Today was one of those mandatory shopping days. When I say mandatory - this means things to buy which don’t include shoes or clothes. Even though I should be nominated as the OBI shopper of the month and handed a diploma being served champagne, considering the number of times I have been there, I’d rather spend hours in a clothes or shoe shops, fitting, feeling and just relaxing.

It was rather fresh this morning, and the air almost smelt like autumn, however before mid-day the sun came out and it turned into another summer day.

Passed through Velden on our way back and it was busy as always, stopped at my favourite spot to make a picture and then when finally at home, endless carrying of non-wearable content into the house.

So long - September, here we go.

… mirror mirror on the wall..
30.8.2009 von admin.
..what will this coming week bring to us all?
September 1st on Tuesday and this summer has passed quickly!
In 8 days time the European Bike week starts, so does the Pink lake and the Humorfestival (on the 10th). On the 4th until the 6th of September you can enjoy a glass of good wine (or two) at the Veldener winefest…
The Kelag tennis ended today and our tennis guys and girls have left for their next match somewhere else and will hopefully be back next year again.
Day has been busy and now enjoying some peaceful moments with my book (Adrian Mole and the Weapons of Mass Destruction), which is hysterically funny..
So long from a sunny Sunday ( this to my mum’s delight, considering the amount of washing to be done ;-))

… done its purpose
29.8.2009 von admin.
… 19°C at 6.30 this morning (according to mum), however some dark clouds came along and fine summer-rain came down. Water-bucket is full (mum again) the rain could stop any minute. There is absolutely no necessity for it to continue further.. it has done its purpose, full stop! If life was that easy I would say… However, the day invites to read a good book, cuddled up in the sofa, listening to the rain hitting the windowsill.
The tennis semi-finals were postponed until tomorrow, which means that the semi - and finals will both be played on Sunday.
Enjoyed the pizza, good wine and great company yesterday evening at Ciao Ciao and seen them off this morning. Great to see an old friend again!
Actually I will take my own advise and grab my book.
So long - stay dry

… heat is on
28.8.2009 von admin.
… *puh* “heaty” day again and our dear neighbour helped us cut the hedges (THANKS!!!) and it no longer looks like a jungle at the back of the house. Despite the fact that the backyard is not huge, but the stuff -( sorry mum! She doesn’t really appreciate the word “stuff” in combination with her flowers) that grows there, grows like there has been used a lot of fertilizer, which is not the case.
The tennis girls and boys are playing again today and I guess the match must be over soon. I hope they did well.
Going to enjoy a dinner with friends at Ciao Ciao this evening and see them off after their 3 week holiday in Carinthia. They had great weather and seem to have enjoyed it. Ciao Ciao is the Italian restaurant next door and you can enjoy a great meal, good wine, wonderful service in a fantastic atmosphere there.
Time to enjoy the sun…
So long - ciao

… Carinthia
28.8.2009 von admin.
…. Carinthia is known for its beauty with mountains and lakes. It is the southernmost Austrian state with Slovenia and Italy as neighbouring countries. Carinthia has a population of around 560.000 and Klagenfurt as its capital and and Villach are the largest cities and also strongly economically linked. The name Carinthias has been suggested coming from the Celtic - carant ( friend or relation - land of friends) or karanto (stone , rock) but also Carantania is related to the old Slovenian Korotan, from which the modern name Koroška arose, and it derives from pre-Slavic “carantia”.
Zummer An’ Winter by Ingeborg Bachmann*
When I led by zummer streams
The pride o’ Lea, as naighbours thought her,
While the zun, wi’ evenen beams,
Did cast our sheades athirt the water;
Winds a-blowen,
Streams a-flowen,
Skies a-glowen,
Tokens ov my jay zoo fleeten,
Heightened it, that happy meeten.
Then, when maid an’ man took pleaces,
Gay in winter’s Chris’mas dances,
Showen in their merry feaces
Kindly smiles an’ glisnen glances;
Stars a-winken,
Day a-shrinken,
Sheades a-zinken,
Brought anew the happy meeten,
That did meake the night too fleeten.
So long - from the land of friends

… prioritizing ability
27.8.2009 von admin.
… For a long time I have wanted to touch the area of politics, however due to the fact that one scandal follows the other and I suppose that our Governor (Gerhard Dörfler) from the BZÖ* (Alliance for the future of Austria) and the other parties are fully occupied sorting the mess out, I have discarded the topic all together. I guess this can be seen wherever we go in the world, more or less. What surprises me is that any politics can be done at all, by the amount of not really flattering headlines made. But whom am I to judge - and you shouldn’t believe everything you read..prioritizing is great and can be applied to most things in life…including politics. I am certain our chosen men and women pick the fights that matter…
*BZÖ was founded by the Freedom Party in 2005 and was led by one of its founders Jörg Haider until 2006 and also just before his death in October last year. BZÖ is a a national conservative political party in Austria and holds 21 seats in the national council. Between 2006 and 2008 Peter Westenthaler held the position as Leader, however was removed in August 2008 due to his conviction of perjury.
I am looking forward to dig further into this area of interest. As soon as we all are ready for it, I might ad..
Another sunny day at the Wörthersee with 25°C in the water. Our tennis playing guests are up for another game today and we are crossing our fingers they’ll do well! Extremely lovely girls and boys in their early 20s!

Anyway - Altstadtzauber starts tomorrow - good weather predicted for the weekend and a swim in the lake is due.
So long - priority to come

… fascination never ends
26.8.2009 von admin.
…. as a human being we are all blessed (or not) with mood-swings. For those whom we love - no matter mood, we still care for them. A mood is not as specific as an emotion and is not only limited to good or bad mood, but has so much more. Fear, sorrow can last for days and depending on personality and temper, a mood can be more or less intense. Sometimes I have the feeling, that this also applies to the lake. To me, Wörthersee looks different every day. You can generalize and say it always has a turquoise-blueish color, but it hasn’t. It feels like it’s carrying thousands and thousands of different colors, which changes depending on mood. Wörthersee never stops fascinating me. No matter seasons, weather or time of day and love to someone or something can also apply to a lake…
Anyway - it went well for our guests so far at the tennis tournament. Well done! Always wanted to be able to play tennis, but as close as I got to a racket is badminton unfortunately. Still looking for that tennis trainer with a great sense of humor and never ending patience. Not yet found - I might ad…
On Friday the magic nights ( Altstadtzauber) starts in Klagenfurt and has published an impressive programme to entertain locals and guests. I hope I get a chance to pop by and be drawn into the world of magic. By the way I am a super fan of Harry Potter and would wish to swing a wand or two (even though I have reached the mid 30s).
So long -
“To gain luck Wondering magic bring to me, In this life the luck I need, So all my angles can be seen, And thus fulfill my every dream, Combined earth and fire, Bring forth my hearts desire, Guardians of the sea, Keep all harm from me.”

… Tennis in Pörtschach 22nd - 29th August
25.8.2009 von admin.
… Kelag Power Future 2009 and Kelag Ladies Open 2009 has started in Pörtschach and we wish our Slovakian and Hungarian guests participating - Good Luck!
Pörtschach is seen as the Austrian “Mekka” for Tennis and the ATP tournament have taken place here between 2006-2008. Unfortunately Pörtschach lost the 2009 Tournaments, which took place in Kitzbühel this year. Anyway - we hope to see them here next year again.
So long - deuce

… wow
24.8.2009 von admin.
… spent the day at Bad Saag, laying with my feet in the 25°C Wörthersee and inhaled the fresh air. Even though a minor sun-burn can be felt, I clearly enjoyed the day with a good book.
Awaiting some guests to check-in and will then make the evening round through and outside the house to tend to the flowers. To “tend” in my vocabulary means giving them water - in mum`s it means talking to them..
![]()
The running event was a success I gathered and our guests came in on a good position (Congrats!!). The weather was perfect and the organization around the event was well done.
A big THANK YOU! to our wonderful lads at Gemeinde Techelsberg for cleaning up the mess from the storm and hale the other day. What would we do without you?
Anyway - time to do some stuff around the house.
So long - keep happy

…hale came and went
23.8.2009 von admin.
… the sky turned black within minutes yesterday evening and it poured down with rain and hale. The road beside the house which leads up the hill turned into a small river and all the dirt and leaves from the woods came swooshing down. We were lucky though - no water in the cellar, roof still where it should be and no dents in the cars parked in-front of the house. On the south-side of the lake they were not as lucky as we and the fire-brigade in whole Carinthia had a busy night. Sun is out again today and the only thing that reminds us of the storm, flood and hale from yesterday is the mud on the street.Somebody must have been watching over us yesterday… Whomever it was - thanks - good one!
So long - Carinthia has survived once again
