16th International Johannes Brahms Competition 2009 starts in Pörtschach on August 30th and continues through to the 6th September. Every year about 400 applications arrive from more then 40 different countries. More info can be found under: http://2009.brahmscompetition.org

Another great day has come to an end. Sun has been out, temperatures climbing to 32°C. However I can hear the thunder in the distance, so I guess we are expecting some rain tonight. The weather should stay good during the weekend and the coming week - so no worries!

Went for an evening swim in the 25°C lake… the water is absolutely gorgeous and I have never seen a lake have this turquoise colour.

Gearing up for the beach volleyball during the weekend and tomorrow we are awaiting new guests for the games.

Final round with the dog is due so -

If you get up early, the lake has not yet been disturbed and woken up by water- skiers. You get wonderful impressions of the Wörthersee. Not only the lake is peaceful, the boats lay there sound and safe and everything is just very quiet.

Not only the people are wonderful in Carinthia, the landscape is fantastic and I am grateful for every moment and every morning I have the possibility to be here.

Inner peace…

Sun is up, though a bit cloudy, 24°C and a perfect day for sightseeing. Either take a trip with one of the boats taking you from one village to the other around Wörthersee, or check the great scenery from the Pyramidenkogel.

The Pyramidenkogel is located on an altitude of 900m, with a lift and playground for kids. From there you have a 1st class view over the impressive landscape.

..starting tomorrow at 11 am in Klagenfurt - (link) and continues to the 2nd August. Gearing up for a new adventurous week at Wörthersee. The weather is great and will stay like this for a while so the Beach Volleyball will be a success!

The fantastic fence (see earlier blog) has had the final painting and the shores are done around the house.

The family with the 2 adorable kids have been to Slovenia (just 40 minutes away from the border) for the day and some guests are still at the lake for the last swim this evening.

I am sitting on the porch looking out on the lake, sun is low, some water-skiers are still in action and it’s still 25°C… God, this place is beautiful.

In between Fete Blanche and Gran Slam Beach Volleyball the Villacher Kirchtag started today. It is always the last weekend in July and continues a week.  More then 100 different activities are presented during this week and more then 250 different vendors can be found at the fairground. A lot to see, a great atmosphere and  a lot of fun for the whole family!

The weather will remain great during the week and the temperature climbing up to +30°C  - and the Wörthersee has wonderful +25°C. The mediterranean weather here is marvellous!

Enjoy a week in Villach, come and relax at Wörthersee -

Fantastic guests, great party and a successful end of the Fete Blanche. Despite rain and some of the white clothing turning grayish, I got the impression our guests were happy with the party, the house and us .

The party ended somewhere around 6ish this morning, so when I got up even the lake was still.

House is almost full tonight again - which is great! Weather is a bit cooler as the days before but the entertainment in the villages around Wörthersee does not stop.

Di Elfe got their new fence today and it looks fantastic ! Spent many hours painting that fence, however the hard work was done by professional I need to ad… ;-).

Everything is organized, the house is ready to be filled with Fete Blanche guests tonight!

Hopefully the weather with hold tonight, still 31°C and sun - but thunderstorms are promised for this evening.

Passing through Pörtschach this afternoon for some shopping and everybody is busy turning Pörtschach into “The white night”. Looks great!

Off to great our dear guests and settle them in!

No need for sports if you have flowers on every floor and the rainwater bucket behind the house.

As the flowers grow in every corner of the house and garden and are in desperate need of water after 37°C, I probably have carried 30 watering cans this evening. But they are beautiful. Mum has a great hand with flowers. As soon as they enter our land - they grow like they have never done before.

Countdown Fete Blanche has started and the first guests will arrive during mid-day tomorrow. We are hoping for great weather and a great night!

.. the biggest lifestyle and society event in Austria. Approx 50.000 people dressed in white will visit the Wörthersee area. More info under: http://www.feteblanche.at/

House is fully booked and we are looking forward to a weekend in white, with white - all white!
